Each day 500 people will be diagnosed with a brain tumor. This is why on Saturday, February 9, 2013 I will be participating in the American Brain Tumor Association?s Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5K Run & Walk in Tampa, FL. Each year, the Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5K Run & Walk provides critical funding for brain tumor research and for supportive patient care.

I am participating and fundraising to maintain and strengthen the critical resources that make such a profound difference in the lives of brain tumor patients and their families. 

My friend Nancy's son James came into my life last November. The next month he was diagnosed with a terminal anaplastic astrocytoma on his brain stem so it is inoperable. Shortly thereafter he did radiation and a round of chemo as the standard treatment.  He is now participating in an aggresive chemo trial to keep the tumor from growing.
