When I was in second grade I failed a vision test at school. My mom brought me to eye doctors to try to figure out why I wasn't seeing out of one eye. After many doctors and tests I was diagnosed with an Optic Nerve Meningioma. I had my first brain surgery when I was in 8th grade. They removed my optic nerve from my right eye leaving me with only the vision in my left eye. I had a second surgery a year later. Things seemed to be great until my senior year in college when I started to lose my vision in my only good eye. A piece of residual tumor was growing again. This piece needed to be treated with Radiation Therapy. I left college and went to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. I had radiation twice a day for one month.

That was 10 years ago. I have been healthy ever since!

In those early years my mom turned to the ABTA for answers. They provided her with resources and comfort. We will be forever grateful for their help.
