Each day, 500 people will be diagnosed with a brain tumor. To show my support, I will be participating in the American Brain Tumor Association’s BT5K Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run & Walk. Money raised by the BT5K will provide critical funding for brain tumor research and for supportive patient care.
Few months ago I was diagnosed with rare brain tumor and luckily for me was benign but over 2" and pressing the cranial nerves by the stem which made it even worse the situation I was at , tumor was very close to these nerves and was high risk surgery , risks of not being able to hear,to see,be paralyzed and many other things I was told from the doctor while I was starring at the wall kind of listening but couldn't focus couldnt understand the information I got and was scared to death and In schock I was told that surgery will be needed as soon as possible. Hard to believe that this was happening to me I needed to face this problem and be brave and just do this surgery....
Alone here with my friends only and my entire family overseas which I couldn't tell them the truth of what is really happening to me by saving them from suffering and worrying I accepted the fact that I have to do this and no matter what I will fight this battle and I will rise again.
February 23th I was there, nurse Rubi was helping me to get ready with tears in her eyes she said "I will pray for You". I was looking at all the doctors and nurses faces, they were just starting their shift and in tears I was looking at the clock on the wall and saying to my self "there is plenty of time Elena leave, maybe You can come back another day or next year ... " but that didn't happened I decide to stay strong no matter the pain I had in my chest and the tears in my eyes and ready or not but I did it and God only knows how.
After 7 hrs I woke up and half conscious so thirsty asking for water I was wondering how did it go ... but I was Alive ....first thing I did was to check if I feel my legs,if I can move my fingers if I can feel my body ... that Moment I will always remember, will never fade away .... I was happy , I was so happy and I knew it I was ok everything was ok and it was over...
