Team Born to Run

Back in October of 2014 my mom had what the doctors thought was a hemmoragic stroke.  They treated her for that stroke with intense rehab.  She was slowly progressing until March of 2015 when she started to have some setbacks.  My dad took her to Christ hospital where they diagnosed her with a large malignant brain tumor.  Turns out it wasnt a hemmoragic stroke that she had, but a large brain tumor masking itself as a bleed.  They removed 99% of the tumor and put her on chemo and radiation.  She was doing great on the treatment and started back up at therapy.  The MRI in September of 2015 even showed that the 1% of the tumor that was left had disappeared.  When she went back for a scan in December, unfortunately a new tumor had started to grow.  She had surgery scheduled for January to remove the remaining tumor.  In the few short months since that surgery, she majorly declined, and unfortunately ended up passing on April 12th, 2016.

We are walking in the BT5K to help raise funds for Brain Tumor reaserch, so that the next mother, daughter, sister, or friend that gets this wont have to go through what my mom has gone through.  Hopefully with our help, the next diagnosis of this disease has a brighter outlook and more hope for a recovery.  Each day, 500 people will be diagnosed with a brain tumor.  That rate is disgusting to me and needs to be stopped.

You can support me in my efforts by making a donation to the American Brain Tumor Association, or you can joine us by walking with us as part of Team Born to Run!

Your donation not only supports brain tumor patients and their families but it also supports the breakthrough research to improve, extend and ultimately save lives.  And remember, your donation is tax-deductible! You can learn more about the American Brain Tumor Association at www.abta.org. Thank you in advance for your support of my efforts on behalf of brain tumor patients, their families, and the researchers pursuing the breakthroughs.
