So where do we start? This will be our 3rd year not having our beloved son, brother, uncle, Godfather and friend walking with us! He was the one who made this walk fun. He was the one who insisted on giving away his team shirts and any other item that he could put his logo on. He was the one everyone came to support because he was so loving, generous, courageous and was not going to give up!
His journey started in 2007 at the age of 28 diagnosed with a pylocytic astrocytoma. After surgery at Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, University of Chicago, radiation, 5 years of chemo, 5 treatments of cyberknife his tumor was no longer considered benign because of its aggressive nature. His last year of life was more than anyone could handle. A surgery gone bad, stroke, malfunctioning shunt! He refused to give up. He continued to go to physical therapy and speech therapy as difficult as that was for him always believing he would get better! At the age of 35, Tommy's battle was over!
And so we walk on April 23, 2017 at Soldier Field in Chicago and fundraise so others don't have to go through what he did! He always said he hopes the Drs. learned something from his ordeal that will help others! We hope so too Tom!
