I am extremely excited to be participating in this wonderful 5k again this year!!
In about 3 weeks I will be out there running my heart out! This year I'm choosing to run in honor of my brother David who is living with 2 Colloid Cysts (Brain Tumors). Both of which are inoperable due to their locations. He was diagnosed 2 years ago after needing a CT-scan/MRI because of a car accident. One absolutely amazing thing was God used my fundraising efforts for the run last year as means for David to finally find the courage to share his story with me and others.
This last year has been a roller coaster ride for David! He's had to figure out how to continue his busy life while in pain, deal with other symptoms/issues and learn to navigate the adventure of doctors and insurance companies that come with these tumors. I have really tried to be an encouragement and support to him even if he's in CA and I'm here in MI. One resource that has been amazing in all this is the Brain Tumor Association's website. I have found myself going online numerous times to try and get questions answered or to look for potential resources.
This cause has become even more personal and important to me! At times I feel helpless as I sit back and watch someone I love deal with all this junk. I wish I could do more to help or take it all away...sadly I can't but I see running in this race and supporting this organization as a tangible thing to do to support David and other families I may never meet as they fight this battle!
In this journey I have two asks from you..
