Each day, 500 people will be diagnosed with a brain tumor. My family knows that fear and uncertainty all too well. We seem to collect brain tumors. I can now count four relatives, mostly first or second degree, and on both sides of my family, to receive this life changing diagnosis. The most recent diagnosis, my Uncle Butch, just weeks ago. I can't change it...but I can help raise awareness and support research.
I started running after my brother's brain tumor diagnosis several years ago and am happy to be able to run in his honor. As my Uncle (in the picture) continues his treatment and recovery, I'll be sending him good vibes with each step I take.
So... I will be participating in the American Brain Tumor Association's BT5K Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run & Walk. Money raised by the BT5K will provide critical funding for brain tumor research and for supportive patient care.
You can support me, and my family, in this effort by making a donation to the American Brain Tumor Association.
