As many of you know our sweet little boy was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 9 months old. He is the strongest bravest little boy you could ever imagine and has endured more at his age than some endure in a lifetime.. he remains so happy and brave every single day. He is currently underging chemotherapy weekly and future treatments may include a clinical trial. Please join us as we walk not only for our super drew but the many around us that are battling brain tumors and for those we have lost to this terrible disease including my mother.
Here are some statistics:
~Brain tumors are the most common cancer occurring among those age 0-14, and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children (males and females) age 0-14, according to a 2016 report that places brain tumors in children above leukemia for both statistics.
~It is estimated that more than 4,600 children and adolescents between the ages of 0-19 will be diagnosed with a primary brain tumor this year.
~Brain and CNS tumors are the third most common cancer occurring among adolescents and young adults (ages 15-39) and the third most common cause of cancer death in this age group.
Each day, 500 people will be diagnosed with a brain tumor. To show my support, I will be participating in the American Brain Tumor Association's BT5K Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run & Walk. Money raised by the BT5K will provide critical funding for brain tumor research and for supportive patient care.
