Team Eric Almeroth

Team Eric Almeroth is participating in the Breakthrough for Brain Tumors walk at Soldier Field on Sunday, April 22, 2018. This will be our second year participating with our own team and our third year participating in the race.  The first year we participated with our doctors team and last year we decided to create our own team. So many of you came out to join us! It was truly moving to see your support and our sea of red shirts all over Soldier Field. Together we raised over $5,000 for brain tumor/cancer research! This year I hope you exceed that goal by setting a new team goal of $8,000. I know we can do it!  We are so proud to be a part of raising money for Brain Cancer research since we have been directly affected by this horrible disease.  My name is Melinda Almeroth and I am Eric's wife and the captian of our team this year.

For those of you who do not know our story, my husband, Eric Almeroth, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Grade 4 Brain Cancer in August of 2014. Our son was on eight months old at the time.  Eric suffered a gran mal seizure in the middle of the night and was rushed to the hospital.  It was there that doctor found a large mass on the left frontal lobe of his brain after having a CAT scan.

Eric underwent surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible on our second wedding anniversary.  The surgery was considered successful because they were able to remove 99% of the tumor. He then followed with six weeks of high dose radiation and low dose chemotherapy.  After radiation was completed, he was on high dose chemotherapy for another twelve months.  You can imagine how difficult that first year was for us as a family, but we made it through with the love and support of people like you.

Eric's health continues to be monitored by MRIs every other month to make sure the cancer has not reoccurred.  This type of cancer usually tends to come back more often than not.  I am happy to announce that Eric's most recent MRI was clear!  We celebrated THREE years of survivorship this past August.  We continue to be blessed with the amazing support of all of our friends and family.  We are so thankful that Eric continues to thrive.

We would be so honored if you would join us in the walk this year at Soldier Field.  To say it is an amazing event, would be an understatement.  Words cannot describe the emotions when you see your warrior cross the finish line with his son on his shoulders.  We hope to see you all there.  If for some reason you cannot join us in walking this year, please consider a donation to our team to help fund research for brain tumors.  Thank you for your support.

The more the merrier! I’m inviting all my friends to join my team in support of the nearly 700,000 people currently living with a brain tumor. You can join my team by clicking the join button on the right, or go to and follow the instructions to join our team this year!

If you can’t make it to the BT5K Chicago on April 22, 2018 please consider making a donation to the American Brain Tumor Association in support of the team’s efforts. Click the donate button on the right, or go to the link above to donate to TEAM ERIC ALMEROTH.
