Allow me to introduce our team : Team Rutledge
Inspired by a t-shirt created by a co-worker of mine, after we found out my brain tumor had returned for a second time.
I showed up at work one day, knowing nothing about the shirts and walked into the office to find all my co-workers wearing shirts that said:
"No One Fights Alone" on the front and
"#TEAMRUTLEDGE" on the back.
It brought me to tears. To know that they were there supporting me during this horrible time, meant the world to me.
When it came time to decide on a team name last year.... the concensus was that we go with "Team Rutledge", in honor of my second defeat of a brain tumor.
I invite you all to please join our team for our 5th annual participation in the BT5K - Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run & Walk in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday June 2, 2018.
There are currently over 700,000 people living with brain tumors. I am a blessed two time survivor and hope not to ever be faced with a third dignosis. Many medical advances have been made since my first diagnosis in 2010 and thanks to that, better treatment options were available to me this time around. More research is required and events such as this will help fund such research.
Please join us in supporting this cause and help us celebrate my current victory of surviving a second brain tumor.
You can join our team by clicking on the JOIN button to the right.
If you can’t make it to the BT5K Columbus on June 2, 2018, please consider making a donation to the American Brain Tumor Association in support of the team’s efforts. Click the DONATE button on the right.
Ideally I wanted our team goal to be $2789. This represents the number of days from my first brain surgery on 10/13/2010 and the date of this event. I thought that would have more of a signifcant meaning than just picking a random dollar amount. However, I know that every penny counts, so any amount we raise will be worthwhile and will make a difference.
Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts on behalf of brain tumor patients like me, our families, and the researchers pursuing the breakthroughs.
Hope to see you all on June 2nd.
