2018 BT5K New York City

Coco's crew

January 3, 2018 – a date that forever changed our family’s life. Our grandfather, Marco Gonzalez (“Papa Coco”), was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma cancer. Since then, we witnessed the strongest person we have known fight this awful disease. He showed great determination to do everything in his power to stay strong throughout this whole process. Unfortunately, on September 29, 2018 our grandfather passed away.

His passing has greatly impacted us, he is one of the two pillars of our family’s foundation. Throughout his whole life he loved having the family united and taught us how to love selflessly. There was nothing else that brought him more joy than seeing the family gather, whether it was for holidays, birthdays, or any other occasion that provided an opportunity to share family quality time. This virtue has been engrained in each one of us and will be something that we will cherish.

As such, the grandchildren will be participating in the BT5K NYC Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run & Walk, an inspiring and fun event benefiting the American Brain Tumor Association. I’m inviting all family and friends to join our team in support of the nearly 700,000 people currently living with a brain tumor. You can be part of our team by clicking the join button on the right.

If you can’t make it to the BT5K NYC on November 11, 2018, please consider making a donation to the American Brain Tumor Association in support of the team’s efforts. Click the donate button on the right.
Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts on behalf of brain tumor patients, their families, and the researchers pursuing the breakthroughs.
