I’m Jillian. In July of 2014, while 28 weeks pregnant with my son, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After 10+ weeks, 13+ MRIs, a c-section to have my healthy and beautiful baby boy, and a craniectomy... my brain tumor was a pilocytic astrocytoma or a juvenile astrocytoma, and was benign. I understand that this is not the typical situation, and believe me, there is not one day that goes by that I am not thankful for my diagnosis and the life that I get to live. My heart breaks for the families affected by brain tumors and brain cancer, and I would like to help in any way that I can. The ways that seem most helpful are raising money for research and resources for patients, and spreading awareness. The Tumanators is a kick ass team that my family, friends and I created to walk/run The American Brain Tumor Association’s Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5k. The BT5k is Saturday, May 11 at 9am this year. The 5k is at Kensington Park, and is always an amazing time to celebrate life and remember loved ones.
JOIN THE TEAM!
We would love to have as many people join The Tumanators as possible. Come join the fun!! We have have raised over $5000 the last 2 years and have been a bronze team! So if would like to be part of that... just sayin!!!
We try and do a couple of fundraisers every year.
* This year we made $1005 for The American Brain Tumor Association through our Super Bowl squares fundraiser.
* Our Bowling for Brains fundraiser is Sunday, March 24, from 12:30-3:00 this year. The fundraiser is at Country Lanes in Farmington Hills, MI. The cost is $125/lane for 4-6 people and includes 2 games of bowling, pizza, pop, and shoe rental for each person. There will be some awesome raffle baskets and a 50/50 drawing, as well as Brigette’s famous cake pops and crack. If you have any ideas or connections for baskets to raffle, help a team out! If you are interested in this amazing event, contact a Tumanator to get registered.
If you cannot make it to the BT5k on May 11, 2019 or Bowling for Brains, please consider making a donation in support of the team’s efforts. If you cannot make a donation, please help us get the word out!! Any help would be much appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts on behalf of brain tumor patients, their families, and the researchers pursuing the breakthroughs.
