My sister Lindsey was diagnosed with a meningioma brain tumor in 2013, and I will never forget where I was when I received the news. In that time of anxiety and worry following her diagnosis, she was handling the challenges of raising her (first) newborn son, Nolan, who was only 5 months old at the time. With the help of amazing doctors/staff at Ohio State Medical Center, and with research funded by ABTA, Lindsey recently celebrated her 4th anniversary post-brain surgery with a clean bill of health! In those 4 years she has added 2 more little boys to their growing family, participated in multiple 5Ks & half marathons, juggled work and is a dedicated committee member for the ABTA in Columbus Ohio. She is truly the living embodiment of Superwoman.
To show my support for Lindsey, and those who are affected, I will be participating in the American Brain Tumor Association's Team Breakthrough running program - to help me train for the Chicago Marathon on October 7, 2018. Money raised will provide critical funding for brain tumor research and for supportive patient care.
