And so commences training for marathon number three! In 212 days, I'll set out to complete 1/6th of the world's most renown marathons. They say “third time's a charm” and I must admit that this race will far outweigh any of the miles that have come before it. This race I will be running for a cause that has newly become near and dear to my heart. A close friend of mine was recently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. He is healthy, active, an avid skier, an exceptional soccer player and arguably one of the sweetest, most soft spoken people I have ever come to know.
Since being diagnosed, he has undergone conscious brain surgery to remove the mass but is still suffering from the traumatic effects of neural regeneration in regards to his speech and motor skills. The doctors are working on a treatment plan for how they will tackle the remaining cancer cells. If he fights this battle for his life the same way he defends himself on the soccer field, I have no doubt he will prevail. It has been a long few weeks but the race to recovery has just begun.
To show my support, I will be participating in the American Brain Tumor Association’s Team Breakthrough Endurance program. If you wish to join me in my efforts of #ChicagoForChad please click on “Donate Now” to donate safely and securely. Your donation not only supports brain tumor patients and their families, but it also supports the breakthrough research striving to improve, extend and save lives.
Let's give Chad more days on the mountain and time on the field!
