The story of how Head for the Cure became~
In December 2003, The Sapper Family, of Indianapolis, Indiana, would have their lives changed forever when news arrived that their father, Theodore Sapper was diagnosed with a brain tumor. On March 16, 2004, just over 3 months after his diagnosis, Theodore was lost to the Sapper family due to a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) brain tumor.
Moved by his passing and the knowledge that over 50,000 people per year are affected by brain tumors, the Sapper Family decided to raise funds and awareness for brain tumors and the families that it affects.
Working with their friends and community as a whole, they created the Annual "Head for the Cure" 5K Run/Walk to benefit the American Brain Tumor Association.
Join us as we make a difference in the lives of many!

Founded in 1973, the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) was the first national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to brain tumors. For nearly 40 years, the Chicago-based ABTA has provided critical funding to researchers working toward breakthroughs in brain tumor diagnosis, treatment and care, and is the only national organization providing comprehensive resources and serving the complex supportive care needs of brain tumor patients and caregivers from diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
