Thank you for visiting my Birthday Fundraiser page. I’m supporting the American Brain Tumor Association by raising funds for brain tumor research, as well as for support and education programs for brain tumor patients and their families.
Back in September, I was ruminating about my birthday, and all that 19 has in store for me. It occurred to me that my birthday, April 30th, is the last day before May, which is Brain Cancer Awareness Month. While Brain Cancer might not get as much publicity as some other forms of cancer awareness, it is equally important. My Papa has fought Oligodendroglioma, and its devastating effects, since before I was born. And my Aunt Kathy lost her fight to Glioblastoma back in March of 2017. I decided that I should do something and that I was capable of helping all of those who have been living with varied forms of brain cancer. My life has been so greatly affected by brain cancer, and I want so badly for no one else to have to see the ones they love suffer.
All of this is why, when the clock strikes midnight on May 1st, anyone who makes a donation of at least $15 to the American Brain Tumor Association, will have the opportunity to shave my head, with the largest donation of over $50 going first. I hope that this will not only raise money for a wonderful cause but also raise awareness of something that plagues so many.
The original goal of $1,385, albeit a lofty goal, represented the roughly 1,385 people who die from a brain tumor each month; further emphasizing the urgency of this organization. However, due to increased interest I have increased the goal to $1,900, for my 19th birthday. I encourage you to make a donation, of any amount, to the ABTA today to help in bringing an end to this devastating disease.
Thank you all in advance.
